The kidnapping of Gladbeck was a sensational crime in August 1988, during which three people died. On the morning of the 16th August 1988 “Degowski Dieter” and “Hans-Jürgen Rösner” after participating in their attack on the branch of Deutsche Bank several hostages and fled with them for two days through Germany and the Netherlands. During the escape Degowski shot the 15-year-old Emanuele De Giorgi in a hijacked bus. A second hostage, the 18-year-old Silke Bischoff died in police action during the final on the highway.
At this time I was just 5 years and 2 months old. My parents saw the event live on television.
