The debut album of the band “Big Brother” with the legendary singer Janis Joplin was released in August 1967, shortly after the group’s breakthrough appearance in June at the Monterey Pop Festival. Two songs from B.B.´s set at Monterey were filmed. One of them was the version of Big Mama Thornton’s Ball and Chain.

Yesterday I saw for the first time the complete documentation about the singer “J. Joplin”. These live recordings are a historic masterpiece. No other woman has gone this ordeal. Unfortunately, she died very early at a heroin overdose. I could remember that my mother gave me a couple of old cassettes, included one of Joplin´s songs. An unforgettable moment.
