“Front lines” is the result of a collaboration between photographer Brendan Meadows and Militaria collector Matthew Robinson. Wanted to pay tribute to the soldiers who fought so bravely and encountered such tragedy in the Spanish Civil War. The project was inspired by Robert Capa’s indelible scenes of the first “media war”.
A few days ago I bought this one year old project in form of a journal. I was really impressed by this strong visual power. Particularly by the composition of the characters. Even as a child I liked the stories and pictures from old war times. It always reminds me of my Italian grandfather Jacques, who died in the second world war. A man I never knew.
