The brilliant and underrated photographer Gerry Johansson was born in 1945 in Sweden. He developed an interest in photography as early as during his teen years. He did also live and work for a few years in New York in the early 1960s. It was there he began to document city environments.
His former book called “America” was published in 1998. The photographs from the book were derived from his various travel by 110 American cities. What fascinates me, in relation to his work, is his documentary art. Moments and places do not seem to have time and space. His previous life views have inspired me always.
